Each applicant needs to upload a government-issued ID that clearly shows his or her name and date of birth. Our online system can automatically verify most driver's licenses and passports. If our system doesn't recognize your ID, please email hello@courtly.com.
No! Your marriage records and documents will not say “online.” The US government does not distinguish between marriages performed in-person and those performed virtually.
An Apostille is a special certificate, issued by the Secretary of State or the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, that allows a legal document created in one country to be recognized in another country. An apostille ensures that your marriage certificate is considered legal, verifiably authentic, and acceptable in any of the countries that agreed to be part of The Hague Apostille Convention of 1961. If you want your marriage to be registered and/or recognized in a country outside of the United States, you may need this. We offer a full refund up until your marriage license has been registered, which normally happens in 24 hours or less after payment. We offer partial refunds depending on the circumstances of the request for the next 30 days. We do not offer refunds after 30 days of payment.
