International couples may also consider getting an apostille or authentication with their marriage certificate. An Apostille is a special certificate, issued by the Secretary of State or the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, that allows a legal document created in one country to be recognized in another country.
Courtly does offer an apostille seal for a small additional fee. If you want your marriage to be registered and/or recognized in a country outside of the United States, you may need this. To include an apostille in your application, visit our Pricing Page to learn more.
Courtly’s standard marriage package includes an online ceremony with certified officiant, video recording, and legal, US marriage certificate for just $499. Learn more about our add-ons on our Pricing page.

Most countries accept US marriage certificate, but the rules may vary. For international use, we recommend getting an Apostille Stamp or Authentication Certificate. You can learn more about international recognition in our Help Center.
Note: Courtly cannot and does not provide legal advice in the areas of international marriage law or immigration.
While remote appearance ceremonies that are hosted by an officiant on Courtly are legal according to US law, their acceptance by foreign governments or immigration officials is beyond our control.
Please contact the officials in your jurisdiction or an immigration or family law attorney to determine the legal status of your remote appearance wedding and any additional steps or documents you may need for recognition.
